Iceland is closer than you think
and more fun than you could ever have dreamed possible
This mid Atlantic island is the USA's closest neighbor in Europe. In fact,
it is just half-way from the east coast to the European continent. With
daily flights from New York - Baltimore/Washington - Minneapolis - Boston
and frequent service from Orlando and Halifax, this awesome and virtually
jet-lag free destination awaits you with plenty of action. And the
chilliest thing about Iceland is really its name: in January the
temperature is warmer than that of New York, and the welcome for travelers
is always warm. In Iceland almost everyone speaks fluent English, and
Americans always feel welcome.
Experience extraordinary views of exploding geysers, thundering waterfalls
(we have more than 10,000 of them) and volcanic craters like you might only
find on the moon. Taste a new world of experiences such as snowmobiling,
horseback riding, dog-sledging or soaking outdoors in the mineral-rich Blue
Lagoon. There are also seven thermal swimming pools and baths in Reykjavk
that are ideal in helping to improve your health, and as a place to meet
Icelanders. The hot-spring water has highly positive effects on various
ailments, and also reduces those stress levels.
Play golf at midnight because the sun never sets in summer. Fly to the
Westman Islands and visit some of the 10 million puffins that live there,
and say hello to Keiko, the world's most famous (movie star) whale. Drive
or sail through more than 100 majestic fjords with snow-capped mountains
that dot our pristine coastline.
Walk on a glacier, a volcano or just take a stroll in beautiful and
peaceful downtown Reykjavk. Check out some of the galleries and test your
shopping skills in some sleek fashion stores that line the streets.
And culture! The City of Reykjavk was designated a European City of
Culture in the Year 2000, and has organized a long list of celebrations and
happenings throughout the year.
Experience some of the many fantastic restaurants, and the throbbing
nightlife that goes on, and on and on. Indulge yourself in fine hotels and
enjoy nature living the adventure of your lifetime - there are no limits,
there is no end.
Available for the young and young at heart who are adventurous and who
don't follow the crowd. Be a leader and head straight for the "coolest"
destination on earth. You'll never regret it.
I am pleased to announce that from now on Good Morning Iceland will be on
the Internet. Homepage: www.goiceland.org
