Stykkishlmur - Feel the wonder...

of the old town...
For centuries, Stykkishmur has been a centre of trade, service and transport for the Breiafjrur area. The village features picturesque old houses, the oldest of which, the Norwegian House, is a folk museum, where exhibitions are frequently held. Local handcraft can be admired and bought in Artist workshop Smvinir (Tiny friends), as well as in Galler'-Lundi. The new church at Borg is worth a visit. Concerts are given there every fortnight during summer.

All general services are available in Stykkishlmur, and historical sites and places of interest are within easy reach. Among the services offered in the vicinity, we could mention horse rentals, farm holidays and a shark-curing plant, which is well worth a visit. The Danish Days' family festival is held in August every year, a celebration of dancing, singing and artistic events.

of the thousand islands...
The Sea Tours boats offer a wide range of spectacular whale- and nature watching tours around the southernmost islands of Breiafjrur bay. Sea Tours operates two catamaran cruise vessels, both built in Norway. They are among very few boats in Iceland in a size class that have been specifically built for sightseeing. The sightseeing catamarans take 110-120 passengers, and dining facilities can seat everyone on board. The spacious dining room has a parquet dance floor and bar, ideal for light refreshments and parties.

The Suureyja excursion is Sea Tours most popular tour. They explore the natural paradise of Breiafjrur bay where one can observe a fantastic variety of bird life, including puffins, eider ducks and the white-tailed eagle. They sail through tidal currents, see some very strangely shaped cliffs and enjoy the exhilarating peacefulness of entering a world of wildlife thriving in its own natural environment. A high point of the trip is when they cast-out a small net-plough and drag the seabed for some shellfish delicacies. When the net is hauled in everyone gets the chance to taste shellfish and sea urchin roe that just doesn't get any fresher, and see as well a wide variety of other marine life.

According to experts, there are few places in the world today as well suited for whale watching as off of Snfellsnes peninsula. During summer most species of whale found in the North Atlantic are found there, including the largest in the world: the magnificent blue whale, which has been spotted on nearly all of Sea Tours trips. Two types of whale-whatching tours are offered from lafsvk: Large whale-whatcing and Whale whatching. Sea Tours also operate the car ferry Baldur which sails across Breiafjrur bay to Brjnslkur twice a day during the summer months, stopping at the island of Flatey on the way, offering travellers the opportunity of a half-day's visit to this historical site.
