Air Iceland - The West-Nordic Airline

Air Iceland is a dynamic company with firm roots that go back to the start of aviation in Iceland. It was formed by a merger between Icelandair Domestic and Norlandair (Flugflag Norurlands) with the goal of creating a flexible yet powerful airline servicing the West Nordic countries. The head office of Air Iceland is located in the capital, Reykjavk, but the company's registered domicile is in Akureyri, the main town in north Iceland. Both Reykjavk Airport and Akureyri Airport serve as hubs for Air Iceland's route network.

People
The staff of Air Iceland range from airline veterans to new recruits to the industry. With this combination Air Iceland hopes to achieve a great breath of outlook while maintaining the highest levels of service. Air Iceland is a small company of about 230 employees, a dedicated team who are leaders in their field and aim to be so for years to come.

Air Iceland Service
At Air Iceland our aim is to provide our customers with the best service possible. We try to keep everything as simple as possible all the way from the reservations procedure to the documentation for our customer. Once the passenger is at Air Iceland air terminal, personnel will ensure that his journey is as smooth as possible.
Routes: Air Iceland is your link to the West Nordic countries. No other airline in the region offers a comparable route network designed for comfortable travel in the often remote part of the world where Iceland, Greenland and Faroe Islands lie.
Domestic: Air Iceland offers flights to 8 destinations within Iceland, thereby covering all major towns as well as a number of the smaller ones. From Reykjavk we fly to Akureyri, Egilsstair, Hornafjrur, safjrur and Vestmannaeyjar. From Akureyri we fly to Grmsey, rshfn, Vopnafjrur, safjrur and Egilsstair.
Greenland: In cooperation with Greenlandair, Air Iceland offers flights to three destinations in Greenland. We maintain year-round service to Kulusuk, and in summer we also fly to Narsarsuaq (20 June - 09 September 2000) and to Ilulissat via Kulusuk. If you would like to add some domestic legs in Greenland to your Iceland/Greenland connection, you can do this through Air Iceland.
Faroe Islands: In cooperation with Atlantic Airways, Air Iceland offers flights to the Faroese International Airport in Vgar all year round.

Day tour with Air Iceland
In conjunction with flights Air Iceland offer travelers the experience of exciting day tours.

Imagine having it all - dwelling in the cosmopolitan capital of Reykjavk, and yet within the space of one day traveling across Iceland, experiencing the wonderful contrasts of the island by air, bus and even boat, and still be back in Reykjavk for dinner!

Air Iceland offers you day tours that allow you to experience the highlights of Iceland, whether it be a kayak adventure in the west, whale watching in the north, ski-dooing across Europe's largest glacier, viewing Keiko in his new surroundings or even setting foot on the Arctic Circle with the magnificent midnight sun in the background - and that's just to name a few.

As if Iceland is not enough, there is also the option of a day tour to Kulusuk, Greenland, most certainly a fascinating tour that gives a taste of Greenland.

New in 2000: Air Iceland and Atlantic Airways will for the first time offer day tours from Iceland to the Faroe Islands. Within a space of one day there is the choice of either exploring the quaint capital of Trshavn, or travel by express helicopter from the airport to see the wonders of Vestmanna, where you'll experience sailing beneath 1500-foot-high vertical cliffs - something quite indescribable.

Air Iceland explores Iceland
In cooperation with good partners, Air Iceland now offers complete packages within Iceland, for example, flights to chosen destination with prebooked hotel accommodation and rental car upon arrival, and to make things even easier, two-night hotel accommodation in Reykjavk.

Air Iceland takes you to Greenland
Just a mere two hours away from Iceland is Greenland, a country so close yet so different. Air Iceland operates year-round flights to Kulusuk on the east coast, and with a short helicopter flight the "capital of the east coast", Ammassalik, is reached. Air Iceland offers year-round packages to this fascinating country as an adventure tour to either Ammassalik or Kulusuk. The possibilities are countless, ranging from dog sled excursions during the winter months to a kayak show in the summer months.

Narsarsuaq on the south coast of Greenland is an amazing area, with its crisp, clean and untouched nature. During the summer months Air Iceland offers two flights per week to this part of Greenland, and in conjunction with those flights complete packages to either Narsarsuaq or the nearby town of Narsaq.

New in 2000: Air Iceland and Greenlandair will for the first time offer flights from Reykjavk to the west coast of Greenland to Ilulissat, or Jakobshavn as it was known amongst the Danish. These flights will be operated twice weekly with a short connection time between flights in Kulusuk.
